Buying Womens Western Work Boots for Style

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

Ladies Western work boots are a modern in style boot. “Cowgirl boots” as they are also known are both functional and fashionable. However, there are many different types of styles that fall within the category of women’s western boots. While the western work boot can be fashionable, it is not generally new york city style fashion but can be very fashionable in a country western setting and is generally purchased with functionality and durability first in mind and second for it’s fashion.

When purchasing a pair of western work boots for women, you should consider three important factors. First, what you will be using the boots for? Ladies boots can be very durable and useful in many different types of work settings from being in the saddle to being knee deep in mud, but one place where boots tend to fall short is extended wear in an urban setting. western work boots don’t tend to have great cushioning in the soles and in the heel, making them hard on the knees when walking on very hard surfaces or high impact events such as dancing. In addition, the leather sole of a smooth sole boot wears quickly on concrete shortening the life your boot. So if you are looking for functionality and durability, western work boots are best designed for work in a natural landscape.

Second, what style are you looking for? When purchasing Women’s western work boots, there are a few styles: the slip on boot (conventional western boot), the lacer boot and the packer boot. The difference is that the lacer boot ties up for a better fit around the leg preventing slip in the heel and better comfort, and the packer boot has a more military look with a higher arch. In general, lace up and packer boots often come in more sole and heel options so that you have greater control of the tread. Before shopping, also consider the shape of your foot. While men’s work boots are often made in a standard and wide width, it is hard to find a women’s work boot made in the wide width. Additionally, pointed toe boots can produce pain in all but the most petite foot. If you are far from petite, be very wary of this style, especially if it is for work.

Third, what kind of maintenance are you willing to do? No matter what type of western boot you are looking for, you can expect your western work boots to be made of premium quality materials and be durable. Due to the nature of the work, western work boots need to last much longer than a pair of sneakers or a pair of hiking boots. It would be hard to find a pair of western boots that is not made of premium leather, that has not been treated to make it water resistant, and that does not cost 100 dollars or more. This is because to make a boot with premium materials and to be that durable costs more. In addition, many western boot manufacturers still make their boots in the united states. That is the case with Abilene western boots and sage western boots, though the AdTec packer boot is made overseas which allows them to offer their boots for under $100 with comparable quality. The style that cowgirl boots have is very popular and available in different types. The amount of maintenance required should diminish proportionately with how much you paid, provided the extra cost is not due to the fashion or because it is made with exotic leathers. However, if you work in a wet environment, you must plan to regularly treat your leather to keep it water resistant, and if you plan to regularly find your boot completely immersed in water or mud, then you may want to consider an all rubber boot such as BOGS footwear and save your western work boot for other activities as a continuous transition from wet to dry is the fastest way to a new pair of boots.

In summary, western work boots can be fashionable but should be purchased first with functionality and durability in mind. When planning your purpose, consider the type of work you will be doing and whether you are willing to do the necessary maintenance to maintain the functionality of the boot and then consider the fashion look and whether it will go with your various outfits.

How to Create a Vintage Chic Look this Autumn

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

Autumn comes, with starting back into the school year and cooler weather. Everyone makes transitions in their wardrobe. Some seem to do it effortlessly, but most of us secretly have a little trouble. Remember those classy, lovely women from sixty and seventy years ago? The change of seasons never caught them unaware, wondering how to keep up a fashionable appearance once their sundresses were put away. Why not take a cue from vintage fashion to create an effortless transition into your autumnal look.

- Have a Good Understanding of Vintage Style

If you want to replicate vintage fashions, it is important that you know what characterised the fashions of each era. Spend time looking over old fashion magazines, coffee table books about classic film stars, websites dedicated to vintage fashion. Figure out what decades suit your personality. Determine what styles from those eras flatter your figure. Make a list, if it helps. Then when looking through your closet or going shopping, keep these styles in mind.

- Know the Current Trends

Just because some styles were popular back in the day doesn’t mean that they are an automatic success now. Fur coats, pinafores, shift dresses and baggy sleeves are stunning examples of vintage clothing styles that are popular today. If you stay on top of trends, you can pick out vintage clothing with more success. From colours to textures, silhouettes to skirt lengths, knowing what is in will keep you from making mistakes when wearing vintage styles.

- Combine Retro with Modern for a Classy Look

With an understanding of both vintage and what is acceptable in today’s fashions, you have a blank slate to work on. Your surest success rests on mixing old with new. Wear the antique shirt dress with a really big, bright necklace and the tough, trendy boots. A fur coat from a vintage clothing store becomes that go to coat to wear with jeans on the weekend or an evening gown. Autumn means you get to layer more, so mix your cuddly granny sweaters with jeans and tee shirts and your brand new jackets with vintage dresses.

- Get Ready For Autumn

Cooler weather means you get to play with more outerwear. Vintage eras are famous for the gorgeous array of coats, hats and gloves. If you can find a few favourites in antique stores, you’ll be well on your way to having a polished, ladylike vintage look. As you concoct mixtures of your summer wardrobe and autumn jackets and tights, and as you blend the modern flavours of classic retro styles, keep in mind what made those ladies from the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s so chic. A big part of it was an understanding of style and colour, the dance of balance between boldness and subtlety. But much of it was also confidence, comfortableness in their own skin, knowing that they were women of worth whose decisions about what they wore were just right. Their autumn wardrobe worked because they believed it would.

You can find a wide range of vintage clothing at ASOS Marketplace

The ‘Not-Quite-Summer-Not-Quite-Autumn’ Wardrobe

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

For those of you who (like me) have been experiencing a non-existent summer, you may find yourself struggling for something to wear most mornings. Here in London, we had the brief pleasure of experiencing a few beautiful weeks in April – something every Englishman likes to remind foreigners complaining about the weather. I swear if I hear one more person tell me that we had a nice spring I am going to lose it. I’m sorry but a few sunny days in April does not a summer make.

Given that August is almost over I have come to peace with the fact that summer was disappointing and moved on. When the sun does decide to come out and shine, I am grateful for it. About half way into July I, and I’m sure you, knew that it was time to pull some of my sweaters back out. Of course everyone in London knows to carry an umbrella with them wherever they go, as well as a cardigan or light trench coat. But this weird summer season demands a wardrobe of its own, a ‘not-quite-summer-not-quite-autumn’ wardrobe. This wardrobe consists of:

1. Shorts and a light sweater:

The shorts and sweater look has you feeling like it’s summer but keeps you warm for autumn. Keep it simple with a pair of leather tennis shoes or brogues and a briefcase.

2. Animal print trousers and a dress shirt:

Light trousers will keep you warm and allow your skin to breathe during confusing weather. If it gets hot, you can simply roll them up to your knees or mid-calf. The dress shirt covers your arms and chest but is a light material to keep you feeling fresh. The bold animal prints with give you back that summer funkiness.

3. ¾ length maxi dresses:

There are summer maxi dresses and there are winter maxi dresses and thankfully, there are the not-quite-winter-not-quite-autumn dresses. These dresses come down past the knee and the arms go just past the elbow. They are made of a light cotton and can be nicely paired with 8-hole boots.

4. Bright trousers, nautical stripes:

I sometimes wonder when nautical stripes will ever go out, and then I realise they never will because they are fabulous. They look good on men and women and can be worn casually or conservatively. A great ‘not-quite-summer-not-quite-autumn’ look for men is a pair of colourful jeans, with a nautical striped t-shirt or sweater and maybe a blazer. Accessorise with a pair of sharp cufflinks and a nice watch and you’ll be set for day and night.

It’s a tricky season but we have to work with it. Style must be constant, no matter what the temperature outside.

Thompson London offers the discerning and style-conscious man the
opportunity to select beautifully made cufflinks and accessories, at
very competitive prices. For more on mens accessories visit http://www.thompsonlondon.com/Jewellery/View_All

Sewing With Denim Makes For A Fun, Durable, And Diverse Doll Wardrobe

Want inspiration for a really great new dolly garment? Try denim! Denim is a wonderful choice to make a doll appear to be from the farm or it transforms her into a socialite clothed in a trendy garb! Sewing with denim is so versatile and is really a good basic for your dolly’s wardrobe when sewing for dolls.

Supple, flexible, and lightweight, 100% cotton denim is the best choice when working with denim fabric. It is good to wash and dry the cloth, which adds to the softening before sewing. Finishing the edges by zig-zagging will stop unraveling. Seam widths are best when kept at ¼” when working with a doll clothes pattern. You can use the same style stitching you’d use on a t-shirt sleeve, reducing bulk, but adds the finished look of topstitching with a heavier thread. This additional stitching also adds durability to the seam for a new special garment when sewing with denim.

Denim is such a versatile material! You can use it to make multiple styles of clothing when you use denim to sew for dolls.

…Make work overalls and a companion plaid top for dolly to use with her cowboy boots while she is visiting on the farm or ranch, herding the cattle or collecting eggs from under the hens.

…Make a cute, jean skirt for dolly to wear when she enjoys a soda with a girl friend. Add a soft sweater or a warm, crotched hat as an accent.

…Create a denim hand bag to compliment any attractive outfit Dolly wears.

…Add a stylish blouse, colorful headband and dressy shoes for Dolly to go to town with her mom. She could even wear this stylish outfit to her job in as a fashion consultant. Along with her silky hair scarf that looks great along with denim, she’s in style!!

…Include a sweatshirt and a sling pack to go with some slim jeans and tennis shoes for the soccer game at the stadium.

…Jeans also look great with tie-dye t-shirts! Denim is so one of a kind and accepted everywhere as “let’s have” fun clothes, but it also has its moments of charm too! Add rhinestones to yokes or purses and bags. Attach sequins and beads in the design of a horse, a cat, of even a falling meteror to delight the little princess who Dolly belongs to. You could have beads and sequins gently sloping from the front pocket down to mid-thigh for a special appearance.

Denim is really good with western materials, but don’t be leary to pair it with a bit of silk, chiffon, or any “fancy” fabrics. Suede and leather or faux-leather also compliment denim and add a stylish look in your dolls clothing that you’ve made. Check out what types of designs are available in children’s clothing, in particular jeans, and copy that for your dollys’ clothes.

When making doll clothes patterns, denim is a basic material that you shouldn’t avoid! It is a necessity for all doll’s closet. Whether you are seeking a casual, work outfit for jobs on the ranch, or for a classy garment for the company job or night on the town, denim is a perfect choice for any doll. Sewing with denim is a ideal way to greatly improve your doll’s wardrobe!

Punching Bags Offer Plenty Of Physiological And Psychological Rewards

Friday, September 9th, 2011

Back in the day, punching bags were considered as an exercise tool utilized by novice and professional martial artists for workout purposes. But recently, a lot more people begun to utilize these economical and beneficial sports equipment. Punching bags offer a variety of physical and emotional advantages.

First off, working with punching bags in a systematic way helps gaining punch strength, speed and skill. Through the right training, you can actually enhance your boxing technique and empower hand techniques and kicks in a rather short period of time.

The point that you must think of when purchasing a punching bag is that various sizes provide completely different advantages. Bigger punching bags are more useful in enhancing your muscular strength as a result of the amount of resistance they provide. This sort of bigger punching bags will also be beneficial in giving you better technique with upper cuts.

On the flip side, smaller-sized punching bags tend to be less resistant and require really fast striking, hence improving your agility and speed. The quick series of blows you throw when working with a smaller punching bag can create miracles in terms of enhancing your speed in a very short period of time.

In addition to the physical benefits we described above, punching bags also offer mental benefits. First of all, the actual act of pounding a thing (that wont get injured or damaged) is an extremely harmless way to blow off steam. Because of the excessive stress levels within our lives nowadays, to be able to show our frustration or anger in such a civilized and harmless manner is a fantastic gift.

And the other psychological benefit of frequently using a punching bag will be the improvement of your self-confidence. As you gain strength and quickness by means of routine training, and since your health improves, it will only be normal for you to actually feel more confident and much less stressed. In addition, frequent exercising will strengthen the muscles and make your forearms look in much better shape; and it is a widely accepted fact that external attractiveness absolutely boosts morale and self-confidence.

Seeing that we proven that we can use punching bags for many objectives other than professional boxing, lets talk a bit about models and brands on the market. There are mainly two kinds of punching bags available in the market today. Hung bags and free-standing bags. Free-standing bags are usually preferred if there are no suitable spots to hang the punching bag, and when the individual needs to practice kicks in addition to punches. If that is not the case, a hung punching bag could do the job.

A second differentiating element is the specific substance that the punching bag is made of. The most common designs are manufactured of either vinyl fabric, canvas or leather. Though vinyl and canvas models are generally a little less expensive, they’re also considerably more vulnerable to being damaged or breaking due to the beating they are going to take. Leather punching bags however, even though a little more costly, deliver exceptional resistance and durability.

If you wish to begin training with a good punching bag in order to reach the level of fitness you dream of, you can browse around a little on the internet, have a look at established and well-known brands such as an Everlast punching bag plus a couple of other brands, and prepare to throw a few punches to the punching bag of your liking.

Peru’s Booming Exports – Clothing

Friday, September 9th, 2011

By Matt James Barker

July has proved a good month for the Peruvian export industry, with Eduardo Ferreyros, the Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister confirming that Peru will soon have thirteen Free Trade Agreements. Furthermore, July saw the director of Prom Peru confirming the worth of Peru Brand, a spiral shaped logo that aims to promote Peru in the export, tourism and investment industries.

The increase in number of Free Trade Agreements should boost the Peruvian economy. Peru already has a Free Trade Agreement with the United States, China, Canada and Singapore amongst others and soon countries within Europe and Central America as well as Japan, the Republic of Korea and Mexico will be added. This will no doubt be of benefit to the chullo industry as Mexico was the largest importer of the traditional Peruvian hat at the beginning of 2011.

In recent years the chullo has become a fashion item across the world and according to the Peruvian Exporters’ Association (Adex) chullos were exported to 22 different countries during the first five months of the year; good news for all those missing Peru or those wishing they had bought an extra chullo or two whilst in Peru. The majority of these chullos have been made out of alpaca wool or a combination of alpaca wool with synthetic materials, such as acrylic. Alpaca is becoming increasingly well known as a high quality material all over the world, so exports of a wide range of alpaca clothing products are expected to increase over the coming years.

Continuing with the rise of Peruvian clothing exports, Peruvian shoe exports to Chile are thriving with exports predicted to grow 30% this year. In 2009, exports of Peruvian shoes to Chile represented only US$228 thousand, but they have rapidly increased year on year to this years predicted $3.3 million. Trujillo is well known in Peru for being the best place to find shoes, with a long history in shoe production.

The demand for high quality Peruvian shoes provides a good opportunity for Peruvian export companies, states The Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL). However, it is not only leather shoes that are being exported from Peru; many countries including the United Kingdom are now importing traditionally designed alpaca and material shoes from Peru.

This rise in Peru’s export industry can only help to boost development. Many business opportunities in this industry await for people who work within the clothing business and many other areas across the South American country.

Luxury Peru vacations are booming like the export business in the South American country. Click the following to find how to go to Machu Picchu in luxury.
